Trevor Floyd

Sep 4, 2017

Trevor Ryan Floyd was born on October 10, 1986 in Oakland, California. At the age of 30, he unexpectedly went to his eternal home on September 4, 2017 in Janesville, California.

Trevor will always be treasured by his wife, Anna Ariel Floyd, and their children Caleb Samuel and Cora Zoë. He loved them unreservedly. He will be remembered and cherished by his father, Richard Augustus Floyd, his mother, Gwen Eileen Floyd, his brother, Bryan Christopher Floyd, sister-in-law Kendra Johnson Floyd, niece Nora Hope Floyd, parents-in-law Robert Wayne Smith and Jan Dean Smith, brothers-in-law Samuel Smith (Victoria) and Benjamin Smith (Kaitlyn, fiancé), sisters-in-law Abigail Smith, Mary Ellen Smith, Sarah Smith, Joy Smith, Gloria Smith. He is also survived by grandfather, Westley Sherrod, and grandmothers Helen Carlson Stallings and Judith Krohn Sherrod.  He is preceded in death by grandfather Leland Stanford Stallings, Jr.

A California native, Trevor most appreciated living in Santa Cruz and Chico. He graduated from Chico High in 2005 and received a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2010.  After attending Youth With A Mission discipleship training in Australia, he worked for Scot Thomas (who became a lifelong friend) in Atlanta, Georgia and attended Bethel Atlanta’s School of Supernatural Ministry. Trevor first met Anna in Atlanta in 2011 through mutual friends. She had never met someone so full of hope; he had never met someone who saw him so truly. It wasn’t long before he moved to Birmingham, Alabama to be near Anna and her family, and after a short season he invited her to share the rest of his life. Anna and Trevor married in a sunny field on the Smith family farm in Cullman, Alabama in October 2012. After some time in Birmingham, they moved to Santa Cruz.

Trevor’s vision for his life centered around three key pursuits; he sought to know God, to empower those around him, and to show the world how much love can exist in a family.

Trevor gave his life to Christ at the age of four and was baptized at the age of nine at First Baptist Church of Sunnyvale, California. Since then, his drive to know his Father’s heart colored every aspect of his life. Most recently, Trevor and Anna were part of The Gathering by the Bay, a Santa Cruz home church community. Loving those around him with the same selfless zeal as his Father transformed and defined who Trevor became.

This love for the people in his life exhibited itself most strongly in his desire to empower his loved ones to dream boldly and strive courageously, to expand their ability to see themselves the way that God sees them. In both word and example, Trevor continually exhorted his friends and family to fearlessly pursue the dreams God revealed to them. Nowhere else has this been more evident than in the way Trevor sought to intentionally empower Anna in every way. She was his Wonder Woman, the unbelievable blend of tenderness and ferocity, of confidence and humility, that he knew was unstoppable. His greatest mission was to enable her to see this in herself. He lived out this mission through intentional choices like structuring his work-life around his family.

Family was everything to Trevor. With his whole self, he loved being a daddy. He marveled at Caleb and Cora each day. He was sold out in love with them and found no greater pleasure than holding and cherishing them, teaching them what it means to be loved without reservation. His life continues to serve as an inspiration to those around him of how well we, in turn, can love and serve those in our lives.
