Mary Ida Leonard

Mary Ida Leonard passed away at 90 years old on January 12, 2024, and will be buried at Paradise Cemetery Thursday January 25, 2024. A graveside gathering will be at 11:00 a.m. for family and friends.

Mary and husband Oscar L. Leonard lived in Paradise for 60 years before moving to Antioch with their eldest child in 2017 due to health.  It was several months later before the devastating fire took the family home and dispersed their extended family of neighbors, the United Methodist Church, Masonic and Eastern Star organizations, Veterans, and Pharmacy co-workers.

Mary enjoyed the outdoors and traveling, and eating well!  After retirement, Oscar and Mary took many cruises, averaging 3 or 4 a year, all over the world.  As their health declined those trips were modified to be walks together in the yard, going to the music room to listen to piano played by their daughter, or seeing the moving picture shows on the television.

Mary suffered with dementia.  She did her best to train us to take care of her.  She often said, “Remember I love you very much, even when I won’t be able to say the words.”

We do love you very much Mom and will always remember.

Mary is survived by her daughter Ida (George); two grandsons Randy (Jackie) and Andrew (Tracie); son Clarence (Marsha); grandson Joshua (Ana) and Jeremiah (Hannah); and two great-grandchildren, Juniper and Leo.
