Joel William Warnick
Joel William Warnick embarked on his final journey June 30, 2010. His last earthly moments were at Enloe Medical Center where he was surrounded by his family. Joel had just returned to Chico after being discharged from the United States Army. He was looking forward to becoming a college student this fall. He was 22 years old.
Joel was born August 4, 1987 in Chico. He attended local schools including Pleasant Valley High School and Champion Christian School. Following school, he enlisted in The Army where he was a Combat Engineer with the Charlie Company. Joel went on over 100 missions as a gunner and dismount team member while serving in Iraq.
Joel’s interests included bowling, reading, skydiving, travel, and playing games - but his passions were his close circle of friends, his hometown of Chico, and San Francisco Giants baseball. Joel was a wonderful son, a kind brother, and a giving friend. He had a great sense of humor.
Joel is survived by his mother, Karen Perry of Grass Valley; his father, Craig Warnick (Nancy) of Chico; his sister, Brooke (Joey) Holt of Chico; his brother, Nick Harms of Salem, Oregon; his grandparents, Bill and Koletta Warnick of Chico; his aunts, Lorri Warnick Meriam and Laura Gruendemann, both of Chico; his uncle, Russ Warnick of Long Beach; several cousins, two nieces and a nephew.
